Let customers speak for us
from 151 reviewsI use multiple sprinkler timers at my ranch where I do not have an in-ground sprinkler system. I use them to water my flower and vegetable gardens. This unit works as expected. It feels well made and is easy to program.
The first one I received was defective, one of the valves was stuck in the “on” position. The replacement works fine. After installing 2 batteries (not included) the screen lights up to show a crisp display. Programming is straightforward, a hose gasket as well as a screened gasket (not an actual “self-cleaning valve”) can be found in the box with the instructions for setup and operation. I like the timer as it is intuitive to program as well as run zones manually. No leaks and the replacement is working well. I will update this review if there is an issue.
I spent hours researching before buying. Glad I went with this one. Highly recommend it.
The "Sprinkler Timer for Garden Hose, Programmable 1 or 2 Outlet Controller" went onto a backyard spigot running two separate hose lines, one for a small lawn patch and one for a row of plants, and it has been cycling daily for just over two weeks. Setup took under 10 minutes without needing to reference instructions much, mostly just turning the dial and confirming the schedule. The interface is what stands out. The large dial has a very clear click between settings, and the labels are easy to follow without second guessing what mode you’re in. Compared to older programmable timers that feel buried in menus, this one is closer to turning a kitchen timer. Manual watering is also straightforward, just a quick press of a button and confirmation of timer and it starts immediately, which is useful when adjusting soil moisture without interrupting the programmed cycle. The unit runs on two AAA batteries, which keeps it simple but also means there’s no recharge option. After a couple of weeks, battery life hasn’t been an issue, but it does add one more thing to keep track of long term. The housing feels solid enough for outdoor exposure, and the dial doesn’t feel loose or overly sensitive when adjusting. This works best for anyone who wants a quick, reliable watering schedule without dealing with apps or complicated programming. It’s especially useful if you’re managing two watering areas from one spigot. Those looking for smart features or remote control won’t find that here, and if battery swaps are a concern, that’s worth considering.
Love the real-time moisture readings. Helps me know exactly when the dirt is dry.
I purchased the SoilDrops system and 4 sensors a few months ago. This system is amazing. I spend hours researching multiple similar products on the market, but the SoilDrops system was the only one I found with sensors. The system and sensors work together and are critical to making sure you are properly watering your yard. The sensors measure your soil moisture and tell the system how much water you need to reach the optimal moisture for your yard. This prevents over watering and saves you money. Before SoilDrops our water bill was $220+ per month, and after SoilDrops our water bill is in the low $100 per month. We were wasting so much water over watering our lawn.We also can’t say enough great things about the customer service. Any issue we have had has been resolved quickly.
So far things are working very well. Installation was simple after I figured out which wires go were. Connectivity to WiFi took a few tries but once it was up and connected the system was easy to use
Works great as described
Not a lot more to say that hasn't already been said. This timer is extremely easy to use and just set and forget. I put a new hose attached to it so I haven't seen any leaking. It's been alter-reliable for us so far this spring and it's easy to check the display and see where things stand and adjust as needed. I wish the two Zone timer was available to me when I ordered because having one on a schedule but then still being able to run a second line would have been a really nice option to have but I am happy with what we got. In my opinion it's a little bit pricey comparatively speaking, there are others out there that are cheaper for sure. But functionally it works great and it's easy to use and reliable so those are things that are probably worth a little bit of a premium.
This requires two AAA batteries to work. They aren't included, and the one I received would not work when I put rechargeable AAAs in.It's easy to program and use. You specify the time watering will start, how long it will go for, and how long between waterings. The delay can be from 1-23 hours or from 1-15 days. It will control two different watering schedules on two different hoses independently. You can also turn if Off and perform manual watering.I found a couple of things to be careful of: 1) whenever you remove or replace the batteries you'll need to reprogram it from scratch, and 2) if the batteries go dead it appears the unit just shuts off so you'd need to either install new ones or remove the timer from the system before you can water again.
Swapping out my old Rainbird unit was surprisingly painless. The recent water bill was the final straw for my old dumb timer. I've been using this for a few weeks and it's completely changed my routine. I love smart home tech, but I dragged my feet on getting an irrigation hub. This thing is a total game changer for anyone with a large yard. Setting up watering days manually used to give me a major headache.
This is one of those items you wonder if you really need and now that I have it I definitely need it. We're out of town a lot during the summer and this is making it easy to manage our watering while we're gone. The installation was easy with clear instructions. It mounts with the two provided screws and wall anchors if you need them which I did use. They even give you labels to label you stations on your old system before installing the new controller. It connected easily to my WiFi without any issues. The app set up is easy to follow. It guides you through the whole process. It's easy to understand. You can even pick the specific plants you're watering. One downside is you have to purchase the water sensors separately. It would be nice at this price point if they included at least one. It works great without the sensors but some features aren't available without them. One other thing that I don't care for is that you have to pick which days of the week you want to water. On my old controller you could choose to water every third day. The app doesn't have that option so you're limited in that aspect. There is a subscription option that gives you more features. I have a 20+year old system and didn't have any compatibility issues.
I have air plants and some potted plants under an awning that don’t get any rain, so this has been a great solution to keep everything watered consistently. The two-zone setup is perfect for my needs. I don’t need as much water on the air plants, but I can run the potted plants longer, so having that flexibility is a big plus.Build quality feels solid, and I like that they included extra gaskets since those always seem to wear out over time. Setup was easy, programming was straightforward, and the controls are simple to use. The numbers and settings are easy to see, which makes adjusting things quick.I haven’t had any leakage issues at all, everything seals up tight and works as expected. It’s been reliable so far and feels like it should last for years. There’s a good amount of customization with the settings, so you can really dial things in depending on your setup. Overall, it’s a good value for the money.Really happy with it.
Low profile so the lawnmower goes right over it. Works perfectly.
In the summer our water bills can get pretty high. We have gardens that need water and grandchildren that like to play in sprinklers. We also have been know to forget the water is on and leave it running over night. This digital timer is going to help. Setup is easy after you install the batteries (2 AAA that you need to supply). You set the current time and then you can add your schedule, if you have one. Once the planting season starts I may have more use for the watering schedule but right now I use it in Manual mode. In Manual mode you can set a timer for how long you want the water to run. This is great for kids sprinklers. The display is clear and the instructions answered all of my questions. The first couple of times you use it you have to think about what you're doing then after that it becomes natural. When I first set it up I installed it directly to the outside water faucet in the back of the house. The only problem with that is the faucet is about 18 inches off the ground and I soon got tired of bending over to set and see the display. I have a 6 ft hose that I attach to the faucet and normally connect the other end of it to a hose reel that has a hundred feet of hose on it. I found I could easily attach the timer between the 6 foot hose and the reel and this allowed me to lift the hose and timer up to where I could easily see and work the controls. Something you may want to think about when you go to purchase the timer is where it's going to be located and is it easy to access. The timer seems to be constructed well. The battery compartment has a seal on it and is water tight. I wouldn't leave this out over winter, I'm pretty sure freezing weather would ruin it.
